How does Pacific Hills' Christian alcohol rehab differ from traditional treatment?
Pacific Hills designed their Christian alcohol rehab program based on Scripture while adhering to the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Alcoholics Anonymous founders based their organization on the principles of the Bible and a large majority of the original members found that by relinquishing their lives to God, they were able to recover from their disease of alcoholism.

The Christian alcohol rehab program at Pacific Hills approaches treatment as not only a physical disease, but also as a spiritual one. The Bible is considered by Pacific Hills' Christian alcohol rehab to be a natural resource for people in recovery as well as the source of power to accomplish recovery. In addition, the foundation of our Christian alcohol rehab is love and compassion. Our staff at our Christian alcohol rehab is comprised of Christian men and women including several who are credentialed and/or ordained pastors who themselves are in long-term recovery.
Pacific Hills' Christian alcohol rehab's curriculum is Christ-centered whereas their Traditional program emphasizes recovery based on God as the individual may understand him, as presented in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. However, both programs, the Christian alcohol rehab's program, and the Traditional program stress the importance of faith as the basis for a clean and sober life.
The Christian alcohol rehab program at Pacific Hills uses The Life Recovery Bible in their Christian program and many of the 12 Steps have related Biblical text:
Step 1 in Alcoholics Anonymous states: "We admitted we were powerless over the effects of our separation from God – that our lives had become unmanageable." A Bible verse that relates to AA's Step 1 states: "I know nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out." (Rom. 7:17)
In addition to our Christian alcohol rehab's staff being Christians who are themselves in recovery, Pacific Hills incorporated Celebrate Recovery's curriculum into their Christian alcohol rehab program. Celebrate Recovery's curriculum was developed by Saddleback Church's pastor Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life. Saddleback Church (Lake Forest, CA) started 15 years ago and now has over 3600 chapters in the U.S. alone. Clients at Pacific Hills' Christian alcohol rehab are transported to Celebrate Recovery meetings, and when they discharge from the Christian alcohol rehab, are encouraged to find Celebrate Recovery meetings in their own area when returning home. In addition to Pacific Hills' Christian alcohol rehab alumni seeking an Alcoholic Anonymous sponsor, a second Celebrate Recovery sponsor improves the chances of a more successful sobriety.
"You
are always in a place where someone is there no matter what you are
going through…. and you can feel safe. I think when you
are removed from your environment and you don't have to deal with
going to work, cooking and taking care of the kids, answering the
phone and paying the bills…. all the things from everyday life, you
can focus just on you…. and you can completely break down…. I always
tell people that its not falling apart, it's falling together.”
