Pacific Hills Treatment Centers' Medical Director, Dr. Amer Rayyes, addresses the American Association of Christian Counselors on Dual Diagnosis

 

San Juan Capistrano, CA October 16, 2006 Dr. Amer Rayyes, Medical Director for Pacific Hills Treatment Centers in Orange County, CA, presented a workshop "Dual Diagnosis: What is Primary? to Counselors attending the AACC-West Conference in Westminster, Colorado.

Due to the increased frequency of co-occurring psychiatric and addictive disorders, (known as dual diagnosis), therapists and counselors are seeking education to work with this common scenario. Dr. Rayyes' workshop advised counselors how to distinguish between the primary psychiatric diagnosis and drug-induced symptoms. He presented the latest treatment strategies that combine pharmacological and psychosocial modalities for dual diagnosis patients.

Dr. Rayyes has 20 years of experience in the field of addiction medicine as an Addictionologist and Gastroenterologist. He has served as Chief of Staff in three southern California hospitals. In addition to acting as Pacific Hills' Medical Director, Dr. Rayyes operates a private practice in Mission Viejo, California.
